The Head of Personnel says, "So, you've filled out a survey, and made a character. What now? Well, you need to get a damn job!"
Selecting a job is extremely simple, but there's still some amount of depth to it, which this guide will teach you. There are two methods of selecting a job: Occupation Preferences, and Latejoining.
To see a brief description of a job's duties, hover your mouse over the job title under either Occupation Preferences or the Latejoin menu.
To access your occupation preferences, select Character Setup on the main menu. From there, navigate to the tab entitled 'Occupations'. It is also possible to reach this menu at any time by selecting 'Preferences' at the top left of your window.
Each job belongs to a different department, with a different 'Head' that runs it. The relevant Head of Department will be locked behind a certain amount of playtime for that department, to encourage learning an area's jobs before running it. Clicking any job title on this screen will allow you to choose between various fun alternate titles.
At the top right of this window, there is a drop-down menu that determines what the game should do if your desired job(s) aren't available. Remember to change it as you desire. Once you have set your job preferences, which are controlled by the little dots next to each job title, it's time to ready up.
If the round has not started yet, you will see the words NOT READY in the top middle of your screen. Change this to say READY, and when the round begins, you will spawn in as one of your preferred jobs, unless they are unavailable.
If you opened the server midround, or weren't readied up, you naturally won't spawn in at roundstart. Instead, the NOT READY button will be replaced with a big JOIN GAME button. Clicking this button will not immediately thrust you into the round, but rather display the currently filled and empty job slots.
Simply click any unfilled job title, and you'll join in as that job, as your currently selected character. If you wish to roll the dice, you may also select 'Random Job' from this menu, which will randomly generate a job and ask you if this is what you wish to play as. Selecting yes will spawn you in.
When you spawn in after roundstart, you will ride in on the Arrivals Shuttle, safely buckled into your seat. Directly outside of the shuttle is arrivals, outside of which you'll eventually find your proper workplace.
