editor's note: change all the keyboard references to properly display keyboard keys.
John Tutorial says, ""So, you want to be able to swap hands with the best of them, eh? No idea how to quickly drop items from your hand?" "Look no further, friend, I know all the tricks you'll need to function with the best of 'em! Just listen close."
Keybinds that aren't listed on this page, such as emotes, can be found in: Preferences -> Game Preferences -> Keybindings.
These are the current default keyboard shortcuts.
Some of your shortcuts may be different based on various factors not covered in this guide.
In the event that something is missing, remember that you're allowed to ask mentors or in one of the two OOCs.
The most important things you own...other than your brain, heart, and lungs! This is how you interact with the world.
Interaction | Key Combination | Extra Information |
---|---|---|
Swap Hands | X or Middle Click | N/A |
Drop Held Item | Q | Places your held item at your feet. |
Offer Held Item | G | Needs a nearby player to work. |
Activate Item | Z | This does a TON of different things based on the item in your hand. |
Quick-Equip | E | This will quickly store or wear whatever you're holding wherever the game says is most correct. |
Quick-Draw | Shift + E/Q/B | This quickly pulls from your inventories. E for belt, Q for suit storage, and B for your bag. |
Use Pockets | Control + 1/2 | This stores or holds something in your pockets, with 1 being your leftmost pocket and 2 being your rightmost. |
Grab | Control + Click | This will allow you to pull someone or something by moving after grabbing them. On certain creatures (like your co-workers), you can 'upgrade' your grab by grabbing again. |
Stop Pulling | H | N/A |
Point | Shift + Middle Mouse | Produces a red arrow for drawing attention. |
Access Storage | Right Click | This works for bags, boxes, or holdable containers. Good for not bringing that survival box all the way to your hand to look through. |
Throw | Space + Click | This will only enable throwing as long you hold space. The R key toggles throwing on or off, but because of company conditioning, R will also make you rest by default. |
To most space-goers, some of these controls come naturally. They're still worth mentioning, just in case. This is how you explore the world.

For when your hands and legs fail you, words will be your greatest ally. This is how you influence the world.
