Access: Vents and whatever your host has Difficulty: Hard Duties: Wriggle in people's heads. Guides: Here! Alternate Titles: Worm, slug, little bastard. |
So, you just came fresh out of the egg into a cruel world. What now? First, you'll want to get into a vent as soon as possible if you aren't in one already. Your fragile worm body can easily be punched to death. There's two types of worms, and you should know what kind you are before anything else!
If you used an antag token to become a borer, or were summoned by a syndie, then you are neutured. Neutured worms can't reproduce! Keep this in mind before picking something like the hivelord path.
If you rolled borer without a token or a syndicate egg, then you are a full-fledged worm, capable of anything so-long you don't get killed first. If you are the first borer, then you are a hivequeen. This is just a title.
Spawned out of an empowered egg? Thanks to your diveworm queen, you start off stronger than other worms! You have more health, higher regen, faster point collection, and more for you to discover. Be sure to get the queen a mothers day card.
Now that you (hopefully) know what kind of borer you are, it's time to worm. Crawl around the vents until you find a good-looking suspect. Ideally, somebody who is standing still, and there's somewhere for you to hide.
Toggle Hide, then pop out the vent. Once you've found your victim, Inhibit Host, and if they stand still long enough, you should be in! Some people may also let you crawl inside willingly, and people wearing helmets can't be entered.
Once you're in, you can talk to the host and other borers! Speak normally to talk to your host, and append ; to speak on a cortical hivemind to other borers.
Now for the hardest part, patience. To gain evolution and chemical points, you must stay in your host and ensure they don't die. Over time, you do toxin damage to your host, and evolving also gives your host a noticable headache. Luckily for you both, you can synthesize and inject chemicals.
Spend 1 evolution point to become stronger. This gives you more chemical storage, which is necessary to synthesize chemicals as well as produce eggs. You also must spend points on evolutions, found in the Evolution Tree. These are what gives you your abilities!
Knowledge about chemicals is necessary to keep you and your host alive. Alongside stat points, you gain chemical points. Spend these on buying useful and harmful chems. See the Guide to Chemistry for information about what your chems do. The basics are listed in your in-game info panel. Be sure to Check Blood every so often to monitor your host's health.
Host ain't happy with you? If you feel like you're unable to kill them, then opt to jump ship. Incite Fear into your host to stun them, then quickly leave and crawl into the nearest vent. Sugar prevents your abilities from working. Even if your host goes to medbay, medical may not notice the borer. As you become stronger, you have more health, but you are also bigger in size.
There's a couple of paths for you to take, which give different abilities depending on your playstyle. Bare in mind, that you can only pick one T3, which will lock you out of the other evolution types.
Symbiotes support their host, helping to heal them and even revive them later on. If you were summoned by a traitor, you may want to chose this path to help them succeed.
Ever check ghost roles, and see 100 borer eggs available? That's the hivelord. Pump out eggs like no tomorrow!
The ultimate asshole worm. Kill your host in various cruel ways, then lay eggs in their corpse to create empowered borers, which are significantly stronger than regular borers in every way!
Focuses don't help you, they instead provide very useful benefits to your host!
