Q and E are your hands.
MAKE SURE YOU USE WEAPONS IN YOUR DOMINANT HAND.
ROGUETOWN-based servers utilize stats over player skill. If you want to 'win' a fight, more often than not you need better stats than an enemy. Expect to die due to this.
You can left/right click several of your HUD elements to get an explanation
as to what they do.
'C' enters Combat Mode.
IF YOU ARE FIGHTING, YOU NEED TO BE ON COMBAT MODE.
You can left click your 'SKILLS' button to see your skills, and right-click
to see your traits.
1234 lets you cycle your intents for the item you're holding, your NUMPAD
lets you target certain bodyparts. Pressing it several times allows you
to select more specific parts - the nose and left eye do not have
a button, so those must be selected manually.
Shift+Right Click lets you look into the distance.
Z makes you drop your item, R to toss.
Double-tap Q or E to 'use' an item in the associated hand.
Alt+Right Click will let you examine the contents of a tile at the top-right
of your screen.
If you right click the heart on your hud it will show everyone your character knows.
If you are playing a job with spells/miracles, use them by selecting them and then middle clicking. Some, like fireball, need to be held to charge.
If you're roundstart, and you're in a town, congratulations! You're not in imminent danger!
If you're in the woods, well... Let's assume you're in there.
Alternatively, if you're latejoining, you will likely spawn on a dock.
First off, you spawn with some form of light source - generally a torch.
DO NOT CLICK YOUR TORCH. DO NOT DOUBLE-TAP YOUR HAND. YOU WILL EXTINGUISH IT. IF YOU DO THIS, WAIT FOR DAYTIME OR TRY TO FIND A ROCK USING ALT+RIGHT
CLICK.
In order to re-light your torch, you must either:
DO NOT DROP YOUR TORCH, IT WILL EXTINGUISH.
DO NOT WADE THROUGH WATER, IT WILL EXTINGUISH.
Avoid grass in general if you can.
Combat is deadly. Try to avoid it.
If you wade through dirty water, you might get leeches which sap you of blood.
In order to cure yourself of leeches, take your garments off and examine your bodyparts individually (Shift+Click, click 'Inspect Chest). Rip the leeches off.
You may see moodlets on the top left after awhile. Examine them to see what they are.
In order to sleep, you must locate a bed, buckle yourself to it (You can lie down by pressing 'V') and close your eyes (One of the arrow buttons above/below your eye button). You will eventually sleep.
Sleeping heals you. Water gives you blood.
You can create sutures/sewing needles by combining thread (obtain by cutting Grass / shaking Bushes) and a thorn (same deal as above). Go into your crafting menu to make them.
You can tear the sleeves off a shirt to make bandages (select an arm, middle-click on a shirt).
You can drink from puddles by being on 'bite' intent and middle-clicking them.
Murky water will poison you. Certain berries will poison you. Drink clean water and sleep in this order to not die.
you taste berry, you are safe, if not, wait a moment and see if you take damage. One bite of poison will not kill you, but do not test any berries again for a few minutes after biting into a poison one.Hold a knife and MMB without bite, steal, jump, or kick intent enabled to butcher dead animals
SHIFT+F lets you look up.
You can look down ledges by laying down (V) and shift+right clicking the below tile infront of you.
You can climb certain walls if you have a high enough climbing skill, and the immediate wall has a floor.
Sleeping cures most ailments. If you're hurt, sleep in a bed.
To jump, select 'jump' and middle-click.
(You can jump farther by having run selected!)
To kick, select 'kick' and middle-click.
(Kicking someone against a wall is good for you, bad for them!)
To steal, select the appropriate limb or bodypart you wish to steal from, and press 'middle-click'. This extends to pockets.
(Successfully stealing an item will remove the item from their persons, but will not alert them. Failure, however, will.)
